Emberforged Armor Set - Craft Costs, Set Bonus and Is It Worth It
The Emberforged armor set in Anvil Quest: every piece, crafting costs in Molten and Inferno Gems, the set bonuses, and whether it beats mixed gear.
The Emberforged set is Anvil Quest’s mid-game armor goal — the first set with a real set bonus, and the reason most players keep farming Emberfang and Stormcaller long after their quests are done. This guide lists every piece with its craft cost, what the set bonuses actually do in numbers, the craft order that gets you the strong pieces first, and an honest verdict on when mixed gear beats the set.
The Five Pieces
| Piece | Craft cost | Stat headline | Level gate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Emberweave Coif | 3 Molten Gems | +15 fire resist | 20 |
| Emberweave Chest | 4 Molten Gems | +40 fire resist | 20 |
| Emberforged Gauntlets | 3 Molten Gems | +4% attack speed | 25 |
| Emberforged Legguards | 3 Molten Gems + 2 Inferno Gems | +25 HP | 30 |
| Emberforged Sabatons | 2 Molten Gems + 6 Inferno Gems | +5% move speed | 30 |
All pieces craft at the Emberfall Crater anvil (level 30 bench for the last two). Total cost: 15 Molten Gems + 8 Inferno Gems plus about 800 gold in crafting fees — which is why code gold from our codes page matters; the gems you farm, the fees you pay.
Set Bonuses
3-piece — Ashborn: burn and scorch effects on you last 50% as long.
This is the quiet star of the set. Half a scorch is the difference between “survivable mistake” and “death sentence” on Emberfang’s Phase 2, and it halves Stormcaller’s Flame Whip burn tick from 400 to 200 total. Both fire bosses of Acts 1–2 stop being one-mistake fights.
5-piece — Forgeborn: +10% damage while above 70% HP.
Strong on paper, conditional in practice. Melee players hold 70%+ HP against most content, so for a Warrior this is a flat 10% DPS multiplier — the gap between B-tier and A-tier weapons. Ranged players get clipped too often to keep it up reliably; Mages should stop at three pieces.
Craft Order (don’t craft in set order)
The listed piece order is not the craft order. By value per gem:
- Emberweave Chest first. The 40 fire resist is the single biggest survivability jump available in Act 1–2, and it lands at level 20 when you’re about to start pulling Stormcaller — whose entire kit is fire.
- Coif and Gauntlets second (3 gems each, cheap, immediate stats). This is your 3-piece bonus online.
- Legguards at level 30. The +25 HP is fine but unspectacular; craft it when you have Inferno Gems spare from the Stormcaller farm.
- Sabatons last, and only for melee. Six Inferno Gems is half a week of Stormcaller farming for 5% move speed — a Warrior’s dash-dodges get meaningfully better, a Mage’s positioning gets no cheaper than “don’t stand in the cone”.
Set vs Mixed Gear: the honest comparison
| Setup | Fire bosses | Neutral content | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3-piece Emberforged + best-in-slot legs | Excellent | Good | 10 Molten Gems |
| Full 5-piece | Excellent | Very good (melee) / mediocre (ranged) | 15 Molten + 8 Inferno |
| Mixed rares | Good | Good | RNG-dependent |
Our recommendation: build the 3-piece and stop there unless you’re melee. The three-piece cost is 10 Molten Gems — two evenings of Emberfang farming — and the burn-halving bonus is worth more than any single stat line in the set. The last two pieces compete directly with the Voidforge Blade’s 50 Inferno Gems, and the sword wins that auction every time.
How the Set Plays Into Each Fight
- Emberfang: the chest’s +40 fire resist makes his 180-damage bolts chip for less than a potion heals. He stops being a potion check entirely.
- Stormcaller: 3-piece bonus halves the Flame Whip burn (400 → 200). This is the difference between one heal per Whip and two — and Cleric mana is the real enrage timer in duo play.
- Frostbound Monarch: no fire to resist, so the set’s defensive identity goes idle. Craft it for the journey to her, not for the fight with her — fire weapons carry that fight instead.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the 3-piece bonus stack with a frost potion?
Yes, and it’s redundant in the best way: the potion cancels scorch outright on Emberfang, while the set bonus covers every other fire tick in the game that a potion slot can’t. Use both; they’re not competing.
Can I transmog the set's look onto other armor?
Not currently. The Ashen Keep cosmetic set from the codes page is the only transmog-able line, which is a known community complaint — the Emberforged look is locked to the stats.
Is the set worth it for a Cleric?
Three pieces, yes — Clerics get clipped by the same fire. The 5-piece is wasted: a support Cleric’s DPS is never above 70% HP’s worth of relevance, and the healing stat isn’t on any Emberforged piece. Mace of Dawn remains the Cleric craft priority.
TL;DR
Chest first, then Coif and Gauntlets for the burn-halving 3-piece. Melee finishes the set; everyone else puts the remaining gems into the Voidforge fund. Full material sources — where all 23 gems come from — are in the forging materials guide, and the crafting tier order is in the forging guide.
